I designed this site around the following question: What if you never had to update your address book again? I’ve moved around a lot and changed my address, my phone number and my email address a lot. My friends have done this too. They usually send out a group email letting everyone know about their new address—but then all of their friends have to update their address books. This is somewhat annoying. I created this site so that their friends could have an address book that was updated automatically. This solves the perennial problem of keeping track of your friends throughout their various changes of contact information. The World’s Oyster is a pared down social network where there is only one thing to do after you connect with each other: update your own contact information. It comes in handy when your friends change jobs, when your phone dies, or when you start composing an email to Jane and the auto-complete feature comes on but you want to know which of her three email addresses is the best one to use.
