The day I learned how to be lazy
I had so much fun
I just sat there and laid back on the grass
Right in front of everyone
They had Things to Do
They had Places to Be
And I had the sun and
A tree just for me
They didn’t hear the birds,
I heard them not hear
They didn’t see the clouds
They saw only fear.
They were Late for Something
They were Not Important Enough
They weren’t Takin’ It Easy
So life was So Tough.
I said, “Just be lazy, you see,”
It’s easy, it’s free
You just need to be lazy,
Be lazy like me.
Because Ice Cream is Important
And Benches are Grand
So fall on the grass and
Don’t get up when you land.
Do nothing all day
And tomorrow as well
They do nothing in heaven,
So I’ll do nothing as well.
As well as I can
Without trying too hard,
As slow as the smile
Of the snail in the yard.
The bumps on the log,
And the birds and the bees,
They are without thinking
They are lazing with ease.
So this is a call to all arms,
Legs and to knees,
Whenever you’re lazy,
Life is a breeze.
Be lazy today if you can
Or tomorrow sometime
Or if you’re too lazy to laze
Well, that’s also just fine.
Laze on a Sunday
Or a Monday or two
Be lazy with me &
I’ll be lazy with you.
I won’t tell a soul
So you can pretend
We were busy all day,
There’s no test at the end.
But if there were,
Then I’d pretend to be lazy,
Because if you ask me
Anything else is plum crazy.
