sunshine

Like so many suns
she was instantly distinguishable from her mother, her sisters and her friends
and when you were with her you felt that the world would never end,
time would never stop and you would never die—
You would not even grow old,
you would never feel anything but warmth and
there would be at least three new words needed for laughter
because she was so completely elegant,
so singlehandedly summerly
that for a moment I almost thought:

Maybe we don't need a moon.
