We were at a hotel recently and I told my five-year-old son to try to straddle the drain in the shower rather than stand with his feet on the drain. I said it’s so weird that they put the drain right in the middle of the shower and he said, “What do you mean? Our shower at home has the drain in the middle,” and I had to explain, “Yes, I think that’s weird too. I think almost every shower drain I’ve ever come across is weird.” One time I saw a drain in the corner, which I liked.
Being weird isn’t the same thing as being rare. Some things just make more sense than others. It’s okay to think everyone else is wrong. They just might be.
