The first time I went down a black diamond (advanced) ski run, I was scared and kept falling because it was steeper than what I was comfortable with. But I’m glad I went because it was more difficult and it made me learn things that I didn’t have to learn going down intermediate runs. I was forced to learn the right place (more forward) to put my weight in order to keep my balance going down the steeper slopes. It was scary and uncomfortable for the first moment of being out of control but once I got past that moment, then it was comfortable and I was in control again, able to turn whichever way I wanted, and able to stop if I wanted to.
I never would have learned that if the situation hadn’t forced me to. My alternative was to scoot down the mountain on my butt or walk down it and learning and figuring it out seemed like the best alternative.
What should you probably force yourself to learn?
