Today’s the day

My cousin is better at skiing than I am at snowboarding and one day he wanted to go down a black diamond (advanced) ski run after we had gone down a few blue (intermediate) runs. I said, “I’ve never been down a black diamond before,” thinking that I was implying that I wasn’t going to go down one that day. But my cousin noticed that “not yet” doesn’t imply “never” and said something like, “Well, why not today? One of these days is going to be the first day you go down a black diamond.” I find it hard to argue with logic and so off we went. Today’s the day.
